Zinc white copper is a ternary alloy made of copper nickel alloy with zinc added. It is rich in silver white metallic luster, has good machinability, corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, is suitable for cold pressure processing, and has high surface finish after cutting.
Zinc white copper is an important variety of white copper. It has excellent mechanical properties and good technological properties, especially beautiful silver white. It is a famous imitation silver art copper alloy. The standard composition is bzn15-20 alloy containing 15% nickel and 20% zinc. It is widely used in various countries to make various handicrafts. In the Song Dynasty, China used this alloy to make handicrafts with superb technology and was known as “silver in China”. With the development of modern communication technology, zinc white copper has been used as an important plug-in component, and also used for electromagnetic shielding shell of various electronic devices, such as crystal oscillator shell. In order to improve the mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and silvery white, the engineering community has generally increased the nickel content of bzn15-20 alloy appropriately, thus giving birth to new alloys such as bzn18-8 and bzn18-26. In order to improve the machinability of zinc white copper, lead white copper added with lead in zinc white copper is mainly used to make precision instrument parts and mirror frame accessories.
The hot workability of zinc white copper is poor, and it is generally produced by cold blooming process. Thin plate and strip are mostly produced by horizontal continuous casting strip blank and cold blooming. The processing rate should not be too large during cold processing.
It has good welding performance. It can be used for soft soldering, hard soldering, oxyacetylene welding, resistance spot welding, butt welding, gas shielded metal arc welding and resistance seam welding, but it cannot be used for shielded metal arc welding. The cutting performance is 20% of that of free cutting brass hpb63-3.
